Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In McAllen, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Texas run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 amβ10 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (956) 731-0785. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, genkoreanbbq.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 63 reviews, which is a strong result for a korean restaurant in McAllen and suggests consistent service.
McAllen is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and McAllen follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Since they've had their soft opening, the food and service has been amazing! Already been here more than once!! The servers are very attentive of each table and make sure that if we would like to order more food. Ive been to other locations and the ambiance and vibes are similar if not better! Unlike other KBBQ places, you wont come out smelling like smoke. The meats and the AYCE makes up the price, so come hungry!

Had my birthday dinner last night with friends and it was a night to remember! The staff was attentive and accommodating our large group. We had 11 but the table we were at could fit 12. I think that was the largest table so if u take a group, no more than that. We had Steven as our server and he took great care of us! He was able to answer all of our annoying questions and he was patient with us as well. It was a great birthday. Be prepared to spent about 50-100 per person tho. We chose the premium dinner which was 32.99+20extra so 52.99 per person. Plus drinks. We had them bring out one of every appetizer, everything was so good! Those pancake things were so yummy, a great treat, the cheese tonkatsu was yummy!!! The calamari rings! Everything was good. Ill say the alcohol was pricey tho. I had the blue iguana and it was a small glass but it was $17! I also had their caprisun thing in a bag, strawberry flavor and that was good π all in all, I would go again for special occasions. Should have taken more photos of the food but I was too busy eating π

I've been waiting for KBBQ to arrive in the valley and Im so glad it's Gen! My husband and I ate here Sunday the 4th day of them open and we went this Friday and both times it was amazing π staff was friendly, professional and helpful. I don't need to get up for my items, the meats were amazing I will be back every pay day xD, I love the blue lights atmosphere and I had their brand of soju and it was so good paired well with the bbq, the staff mentioned they will be having beer πΊ towers and pitchers after their grand opening, definitely will be planning a get together here soon highly recommend for the experience and delicious food, can't go wrong with a cold beer and bbq.

Such a great experience! Iβve never been to a Gen Bbq location, but I have been to one similar in Dallas, so I was beyond excited to see one like this in the valley. Service was wonderful, food was delicious, a wide selection and staff was attentive. Well worth the price with how many different cuts of meat we could choose from. We were also given a complimentary drink that I didnβt get to photograph but it was delicious. It came with a pineapple quarter slice. Will definitely be back and recommend to friendsπ₯
